Expert specialist facade contractor Eden Facades enhanced the quality of life for hundreds of residents in a social housing community in London by skilfully upgrading the exterior of 110 homes to improve aesthetics, insulation and waterproofing; overcoming numerous challenges to see the project completed on time and within budget. This project showcases the company’s commitment to community well-being, and sustainable and innovative development that supports the UK’s net zero goals, making it a deserving contender for recognition.
The outcome of this project was the protection of an asset on the Heritage at Risk Register. Shildon Coal Drops is over 150 years old and DurhamCC wanted to open the site to the local community by handing it over to Locomotion, a heritage railway museum. The museum would run trains alongside the site enabling visitors to enjoy and learn about the history. A live railway would cause vibrational stresses to the 120m long structure, therefore an innovative ground injection method was used to stabilse the site, forming a vibration curtain to future proof the asset and ensure safety.
The project was a highly complex, high risk, heavy gauge steel structure which involved a lot of planning and co-ordination by our on and off site team to achieve the successful dismantling of the 5,000t building. We achieved this with Zero Accidents, Zero Environmental Incidents and Zero Trip events. Our commitment to SHEQ and the environment was showcased throughout the project, credit must go to all the teams who worked across the phases. Demolish. Crush. Recycle. We do it all through our Complete Solution.
The Stephenson Street Flood Defence Project faced unique challenges due to limited access, tidal flow and environmental constraints along the River Usk in Newport, South Wales. Utilising Ivor King’s innovative Giken Full GRB system, we installed 1000 sheet piles over 600 metres, creating a robust flood barrier without disrupting sensitive habitats. Our eco-friendly solution, coupled with the installation of steel sheet piles manufactured using 100% recycled material and renewable electricity, minimised environmental impact and maximised efficiency. Our dedication to client satisfaction, adherence to budget and schedule, and commitment to sustainability underscore our leadership in delivering exceptional outcomes amidst challenging circumstances.
Mabey Hire’s engineers drew on the company’s vast experience and expertise of providing temporary bridges, façade retention systems and other bespoke temporary works, to help meet the significant structural and logistical challenges on Nuneham Viaduct. This included working in close cooperation with other contractors and the sequencing of extensive permanent repairs, all in a challenging location and with speed of completion as the primary goal.
There were many challenges along the way and this project is the epitome of the value an experienced facades contractor can bring to a client, providing that specialist knowledge. The result is a great-looking, high functioning building, providing fire-safe, compliant accommodation for the residents.
The country was shaken by the Grenfell tragedy and the cladding industry went under intense scrutiny as a result. Whilst many buildings are yet to be remediated T&T is pleased to be playing its part in helping those residents affected, providing a safe home and restoring faith in the cladding market.

In collaboration with Mid Devon District Council (MDDC), ZED PODS has designed and built “St. Andrews House” — a pioneering six zero-operational-carbon, social-rented modular homes on a challenging council-owned brownfield site in Cullompton. Unlocking this difficult-to-build parcel of land and securing government grant at the early stage were crucial for MDDC to embrace MMC-led sustainable developments. St Andrews House is the first-of-its-kind NZC project in the region, the first project to complete under BLRF funding, boosted confidence for 400 more MMC-led sustainable homes and creates a “zero-energy, zero-carbon” community.
